Stake Holder Conferences
Stakeholder Conferences to assist with the preparation of the draft Reading Program will be held in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana before the end of 2010. These events will provide an opportunity to discuss key parts of the Reading Program with a diverse range of stakeholders. The issues to be discussed will include draft objectives, reading format, methodology and future consultation strategies.
The purpose of these Conferences is to consult and educate stakeholders on specific aspects of the reading program and seek their views on the program. By carrying out early consultation with stakeholders holding a wide range of different viewpoints it will be possible to highlight potential issues that may affect the program.
These Conferences will be independently facilitated by Inside Africa Foundation appointed Consultant and attended by stakeholders with a wide range of skills and experience: representatives of Education Authorities, Teachers and Parents Associations, district councils and interest groups such as the NGOs, Media will all represented to help in discussions, and to record comments.
The Conferences will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to express their opinions on fundamental aspects of the Reading initiative such as the vision; emerging objectives; strategic and detailed policies; schools selection methodology; and future consultation opportunities. IAF group will also highlight the importance of a reading culture by arranging for speakers from the international Education and Reading Specialists to attend, and answer questions regarding their areas of expertise.
We expect to productive discussions, and all points raised will be pursued in improving the Inside Africa Reading Expeditions in the Southern African region.
